Paul Gulda

Born in Vienna in 1961 as the second son of pianist Friedrich Gulda and his wife Paola Loew, actress at the Volkstheater and Burgtheater. Early musical education and violin lessons from the age of 5, piano playing since the age of 8, study of recorder and clarinet at the MDW Vienna. 1982 debut as piano duo Batik / Gulda, national and international concert appearances, chamber musician and soloist. From 1996 increasingly expanding. Experience as an improviser, ensemble director and composer. Conception of literary - musical evenings. Several times composition of incidental music. "Voices in the echo. A Musical Discourse "was written for the 54th anniversary of the liberation of the Mauthausen concentration camp. The concert project "Haydn alla Zingarese", created in 1993, in cooperation with Roma musicians, was updated for the Haydn Year 2009. In the Liszt Year 2011, again cooperation with Roma musicians: "Roma - Rhapsody", Franz Liszt and the gypsy music. Social engagement in various civil society groups, e.g. Co-founder and Chairman of the Initiative REFUGIUS Rechnitz.
