Walter Schachermayer

Walter Schachermayer (born July 24, 1950 in Linz, Upper Austria) is an Austrian financial mathematician. He holds a professorship at the University of Vienna. Schachermayer not only studied mathematics, but also business administration at WU Vienna. He spent two years as a post-doc at universities in France and Mexico. Afterwards he was a professor at the Vienna University of Technology and a director of the Institute of Business Mathematics. Since 2008 he has been a professor at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Vienna. He was, among other guest professor in Paris. In 2016 he was awarded the City of Vienna's prize for science. Walter Schachermayer advocates a stronger taxation of assets.
