Andreas Treichl

Andreas Treichl (born June 16, 1952 in Vienna) is an Austrian bank manager. After studying economics at the University of Vienna, he worked from 1977 to 1983 in various European and American branches of Chase Manhattan Bank. Since 1997, he has been General Manager of Erste Bank, since 2008 CEO of Erste Group. Under his leadership, the reorganization of what was until then a purely local savings bank became the largest Austrian bank. Erste Group's largest shareholder is the ERSTE Foundation, which Treichl held as CEO until 2012. Its activities, which focus on the Central and Eastern Europe region in which Erste Group operates, include programs in the areas of social inclusion, culture and European issues. In addition, Treichl had the idea for the project The Second Viennese Vereins-Sparcasse (short: The Second Sparkasse) and was instrumental in their implementation.
