Helga Embacher

Helga Embacher studied history, German studies, psychology / philosophy and education at the universities of Salzburg and Vienna. In 1993 she gained her PhD with the thesis "On the reconstruction of individual and collective Jewish identities in Austria after 1945". She received foreign scholarships and visiting professorships in Israel, New York, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Minneapolis Philadelphia and Innsbruck. In 2001 she habilitated at the University of Salzburg with the thesis "Broken Identities: Victims / Perpetrators / Perpetrators - scientific papers on anti-Semitism, National Socialism and aftermath of the Shoah for the subject of contemporary history". At this time, she was a member of the "Historical Commission of the Republic of Austria on Restitution and Jewish Organizations, using the example of the Jewish Community of the Jewish Community and Austrian-Jewish exile organizations."
