Erich Rohrmoser

"Born on October 13th, 1963. I grew up with my four brothers in Hinterthal, in the municipality of Maria Alm. My father is a retired forestry worker and my mother is a housewife. After compulsory school, I learned the profession of electrician and then switched to the Austrian Federal Railways. I began taking shifts, then I worked as a dispatcher at various stations in western Austria. My last post was at the central station Wörgl Hauptbahnhof. From 2007, I was responsible as Operations Manager for the area Saalfelden to Wörgl. I gained my first political experience in the railway union (now VIDA). In 2004, I was elected to the Saalfeldner community representative and from 2006 onwards I was Vice-Mayor. Now I have been Mayor of the municipality Saalfelden since 2013."

My Testimonial for Tree 38

As mayor of the municipality of Saalfelden I feel honored to be mentioned at the "Grove of Flight" in memory of difficult times, when the turmoil of the Second World War - death, flight, disorientation and hard personal destinies were normal. These stories and experiences become more comprehensible when one goes to the places of the happening. A visit to the memorial stone, in front of the former camp Givat Avoda in Saalfelden. A hike over the Krimmler Tauern, in the footsteps of the escape route of 1947. In memory of these events and fates, "Let's not forget yesterday and observe today, with common sense and sometimes critical opinions."
